Manuel Vera, aka Manny.
With over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, I’ve spent my career building, managing, and optimizing systems that keep people and businesses connected.
I’ve served as a senior manager in engineering, leading high-performing teams through network deployments, system optimization, and the introduction of new technologies. My work has consistently focused on delivering innovative, scalable solutions while fostering collaboration and driving operational excellence.
I also bring hands-on experience in coding and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, applying technical skills to real-world challenges across both enterprise and community environments.
Outside the corporate world, I’ve dedicated more than a decade to youth soccer—as a parent, coach, and board member. From 2019 to 2024, I proudly served as Secretary on the board of Milton Magic Soccer Club (formerly Milton Youth Soccer Club). During this time, I led several modernization efforts, including the implementation of Microsoft O365 for club operations, a competitive RFP process for uniforms, and a comprehensive update of club policies and by-laws.
As a certified coach with a Canada Soccer C License, I’ve coached competitive youth teams ranging from U10 to U13. I’m passionate about fostering player development, teamwork, and a love for the game—helping young athletes grow on and off the field, just as my own children have through their soccer journeys.
Today, I continue to balance my professional life with community involvement and personal interests in technology, investing, and lifelong learning. Whether I’m managing telecom networks, writing code, exploring IoT applications, or helping shape grassroots soccer, I believe in making systems work better—for teams, organizations, and the people they serve.
I started this blog to share the insights I’ve gained over a lifetime—both professional and personal—and to express my thoughts on the beautiful, complex world we live in. If you find something here that resonates, challenges, or inspires you, then it’s all been worth it.
